We're doing a speed training ride at Haines Point Thursday. Great place to ride for those who are trying to get faster. Don't worry if you're slower, the whole point is to get better..

Shoot an email if you're coming jc@thebikeshopdc.com
Thursday Night Ride - 7pm Aug 4th
There will be a ride to Haines Point on Thursday. This will be a training ride where we will be doing loops to work on speed. Haines is a great area to train because it is a flat and long loop. If you have an upcoming race, or just want to get faster, would benefit from riding with others and chasing them through this loop.
We'll be leaving from the store at 7pm and will be doing loops until we're worn out. Bring plenty of water.
Intermediate triathlon brick-Sunday, July 31st 8am
We will be meeting at the store for a beginner brick, doing two laps on the Cap Crescent. For all those interested, this will be ~30 miles on the bike with a 1/2 to 1 mile run immediately after. Bricks are very important for anyone participating in a triathlon because it helps keep your legs feeling like jello when you start the run portion.
All experience levels are welcome and you're not required to run if you don't want to. You will be able to stash your running shoes in the store. Please bring water as it will probably be warm even in the morning. Meet at the store at 7:50. Wheels up at 8am. The trail is down and back on the same route, so slower folks who have to drop back will be picked up on the return laps. We want to make sure everyone gets a good workout in but no one will be left behind.

Saturday Ride from the Store: Brick Ride/Run
This Saturday (5/28/2011) join us for a brick ride from the store.
Those not familiar, a brick is commonly a combination workout that includes a bike and run back to back. Comedically, "Bike/Run It Can Kill" or "Bike/Run Ick". It can be any combination of triathlon sports with less than 10 minutes between sports (BeginnerTriathlete.com). So this will be a moderately fast paced ride with an additional mile run. This is a perfect ride for anyone who is contemplating, or currently training for, a triathlon. Those that just want to ride are more than welcome to join and skip the run.
Meet at 7:30 at the store, leaving at 8.
The route is 14 miles round trip on the Capital Crescent trail and then a mile run down Rock Creek toward the Mall. Bring water, gels, and your running shoes, which you can stash at the store.
All ages, bikes, and riders welcome. This is a fun, fast, relatively short ride.
Please email jc@thebikeshopdc.com if you plan on joining.
Sunday May 22nd ride - Darnestown Out-n-Back
We're going to do the Darnestown ride this Sunday. 7:30AM meet at the CVS (corner of Darnestown Rd and Key West), 8:00AM start.
This is a great on street ride with lots of rolling hills, perfect for building leg endurance. We will be doing 25-30 miles. All are welcome.
Please email me if you plan on joining: jc@thebikeshopdc.com
No Weekend Ride Due to Kinetic Triathlon
No ride this weekend. Hokie Dave and I, plus a few others, will be in Fredericksburg, VA for the Kinetic Tri, where we will try not to drown or suffer from hypothermia.
Store will remain open and we have plenty of Continental GP Tri tires in stock, if anyone is looking for last minute equipment for Sunday's race.
Last minute Saturday Morning Ride
It's last minute, but we will be doing a leisurely 35 miles tomorrow (5/7/11) around Haynes Point.
The plan is to ride East on the W&OD trail from Marker 12 to Marker 4 where we will pick up the Custis Trail and follow it into Rosslyn where we will head over to Haynes Point for a little bit of interval work and then ride back the 4 mile run route to the W&OD and home to Vienna.
Meet @8am at the Caboose in Vienna, VA on the W&OD path and wheels down @8:30am.
Address for that is:
138 Church Street Northeast Vienna, VA 22180

Welcome to our new website!
Thanks for visiting! You may notice that we've launched this new website. New layout. New logo. New features. The basics are still there, but we've spent a lot of time redeveloping the site to showcase the departments and our product offerings throughout the store. We've added a Featured Products section, which you will see throughout the site. A blog, what we're calling "Shop Talk", will be featured on the main page. Shop Talk will contain home projects, D.I.Y. instructions, interesting bike builds, and any other store rants we might come up with. Finally, we have this section, the News and Events section, where we'll have announcements on store specials or upcoming events. As time progresses, we'll be adding more content to the site, things like videos and links to our vendor partners, so stick with us and stay tuned.
